Summary

On the basis of a case study the success of palliative radiation of metastasis of a non-small-cell lung cancer in the spine is demonstrated and the limits of this palliative therapy are discussed. Pain control seems to be the first aim, stabilisation of the spine and myelodekompression to prevent paraplegia could be another.

Zusammenfassung

Anhand eines Patientenbeispieles werden die Möglichkeiten der palliativen Bestrahlung bei einem in die Wirbelsäule metastasierenden Brochuskarzinom aufgezeigt und die Grenzen dieser Therapieform erläutert. In erster Linie kann eine Verbesserung der Schmerzsymptomatik erreicht werden. Die Möglichkeit der Stabilisierung und die Myelodekompression und damit die Verhinderung einer Querschnittssymptomatik könnte auch ein Therapieziel sein.
