Community-based psychiatric treatment of patients with alcohol and substance related disorders – a new concept

Summary

The aim of this paper is to outline a future community-based treatment system for persons with alcohol- and substance-related disorders. Current knowledge about epidemiology and treatment outcome will be presented, followed by a description of a network of treatment and support facilities, focusing at treatment possibilities currently not sufficiently supported by the public, especially community-based outpatient treatment for socially well integrated persons and offerings for comorbid or multiple disabled substance-dependent patients.

Zusammenfassung

In diesem Artikel wird versucht, ein flexibles und gemeindenahes Versorgungssystem für Alkohol- und Medikamentenabhängige auf der Basis neuerer Erkenntnisse epidemiologischer und Therapieforschung zu entwerfen. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf bisher wenig beachtete Personengruppen und Betreuungsangebote gelegt, insbesondere auf gemeindenahe ambulante Therapiemöglichkeiten für sozial noch gut integrierte Personen und Angebote für comorbide bzw. chronisch mehrfachgeschädigte Abhängigkeitskranke.
