Abstract
Cultural entomology can be described as all aspects of the insect world which are part of human life or influence human culture. The field is manifold and diverse, including not only insects as agricultural pests or beneficial organisms and their effect on human culture but also in advertisements, all art forms, the nontechnical literature—and much more. This study relates to the publication of Weidner (1995), who tried to disseminate the concept of cultural entomology and lay the foundation for its further consideration in Germany. He reported about the contents of the first two editions of the Digest of Cultural Entomology (D.C.E.) a publication compiled and edited by D. Sear describing a variety of aspects of cultural entomology. This paper will briefly introduce the contents of the 3rd and 4th editions of the DCE in hope of spreading word on this diverse, fascinating, interesting, and often overlooked research field of research.
