Impact sur la qualité de vie et la sexualité du traitement hormonal chez les patientes atteintes d’un cancer du sein

Résumé:

L’évolution récente des protocoles thérapeutiques dans le cancer du sein, la prescription fréquente d’une hormonothérapie adjuvante, mais aussi la récente diversification des molécules disponibles ouvrent un champ d’étude nouveau concernant l’impact de ces traitements sur la qualité de vie des femmes concernées. Cet article propose de faire le point sur la littérature aujourd’hui disponible concernant l’impact des traitements sur la qualité de vie en général, et plus spécifiquement sur la sexualité des patientes traitées pour un cancer du sein. Il révèle la fréquence des troubles sexuels secondaires au cancer et à ses traitements, leur diversité et leur variabilité selon le type d’hormonothérapie utilisé. Il rappelle l’importance de se préoccuper de cet aspect de la qualité de vie dans une période où de plus en plus de traitements rendus disponibles sur le marché amènent les cliniciens à offrir aux femmes concernées le choix entre divers traitements adjuvants. De ce fait, la révélation des préférences de la patiente va représenter un élément de poids visant à concilier efficacité et bonne tolérance.

Abstract:

The recent evolution of therapy protocols concerning breast cancer, the frequent prescription of adjuvant hormonotherapy and also the recent diversification of available molecules open up a new sphere of study concerning the impact of these treatments on the quality of life of the women concerned. This article gives a review of the literature available today regarding the impact of treatments on the quality of life in general, and, in particular, on the sexuality of patients receiving treatment for breast cancer. It will show the frequency of sexual problems secondary to cancer and its treatment, their diversity and variability according to the type of hormonotherapy used. It is important to be concerned with quality of life during a period where more and more treatments available on the market lead clinicians to propose a wide range of choice of adjuvent therapy to the patients concerned. By making patients’ preferences known, an important element will aim to reconcile efficacy and tolerance.
