Alice au pays du cancer

Résumé:

«Alice au pays du cancer» est l’histoire d’une petite fille qui quitte le pays des merveilles pour rejoindre sa maman qui est partie au pays du cancer. Elle traverse le miroir et arrive dans la réalité de l’hôpital et de la maladie. Ce récit nous plonge dans le regard de l’enfant, ses souffrances, ses interrogations, mais aussi ses ressources imaginaires et créatives pour surmonter les épreuves de l’hospitalisation brutale du parent. Dans la prolongation de ce conte, nous développons l’intérêt de maintenir des liens entre l’enfant et son parent, durant l’hospitalisation notamment, grâce à la mise en place par les psychothérapeutes de l’Association «Cancer et Psychologie», d’un lieu d’accueil pour les enfants dans les services d’oncologie d’adultes. Les «espaces enfants» existent depuis six ans dans deux hôpitaux Bruxellois; ils permettent à l’enfant de venir chaque mercredi visiter son parent malade, de lui confectionner un objet cadeau, d’exprimer ses émotions de détresse et d’inquiétude, de ne pas se sentir éloigné ni écarté.

Abstract:

“Alice in Cancerland” is the story of a little girl leaving Wonderland to join her mother who has gone to Cancerland. She crosses the mirror to crash into the reality of the hospital and sickness. This story is brought to us through the eyes of the child, we share her pain, her questions, but also the resources of her imagination and creativity needed to overcome her problems due to the sudden hospitalisation of a parent. To illustrate this tale we develop the importance of maintaining the relation between the child and his/her parent during the hospitalisation for example, thanks to a welcome place for the children inside the hospital. This is organised by the psychotherapists of the association “Cancer and Psychology” in the cancer section for adults. These “children spaces” have existed for six years in two hospitals in Brussels. Children can come each Wednesday to visit their sick parent, make little gifts, to express their worries and uneasiness. The children no longer feel excluded.
