The Japanese Forest Society establishes a best paper award named “Journal of Forest Research Award (JFR Award)” in order to praise the achievement of researcher(s) who have made distinguished contributions to the progress in forest science. We started the nomination procedure this July. Original articles and short communications published in the Journal of Forest Research within the last 12 months are eligible. The first award will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Forest Society in 2010.

The Institute of Scientific Information has recently released the Impact Factor 2008. I am pleased to announce that the Impact Factor 2008 of the Journal of Forest Research rose up to 0.741 from 0.492 in 2007. On behalf of the Editorial Board, I extend our heartfelt thanks to all reviewers, readers, and authors, and appreciate your support for and contributions to our journal. We will continue our efforts to improve the transmission of scientific information through the Journal of Forest Research.
