Abstract
Epileptic encephalopathies are an etiologically heterogeneous group of mostly difficult to treat epilepsies in combination with clear developmental disorders. The epileptic activity plays an important role in the extent of developmental delay. Therefore, anticonvulsive medication is the main aspect of treatment in epileptic encephalopathies. Pure cannabidiol has been used increasingly more over the last 5 years in the treatment of different forms of epilepsy. This review summarizes the the most important information on the use of cannabidiol, in particular for epileptic encephalopathies.
