Abstract

A total of 503 patients with epilepsy (246 women, 257 men; mean age 38.5 ys) were evaluated. Patients were treated in the out-patient department of the University of Epileptology in Bonn. Mean duration of epilepsy was 18.4 years. 90.7% expected new treatment options. 66.9% searched for seizure control. 20.9% felt not to be sufficiently informed about their disease.

Zusammenfassung

Untersucht wurden 503 Patienten (246 Frauen, 257 Männer; mittleres Alter 38,5 Jahre) der Erwachsenen-Ambulanz der Klinik für Epileptologie in Bonn. Epilepsiedauer im Mittel 18,4 Jahre. 90,7% der Befragten erwarteten die Anwendung neuerer Behandlungsmethoden. 66,9% erhofften sich Anfallsfreiheit. 20,9% der Patienten hatten den Eindruck bislang nur unzureichend über ihre Erkrankung aufgeklärt zu sein.
