Abstract
The present work deals with a phytochemical study of the poppy (Papaver rhoeas L.) growing in the region Tessala (wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbes western Algeria). This study focuses on the determination of some polyphenols in Total phenols, total flavonoids and tanins in sepals, petals, leaves and root of Papaver roeas followed by a statistical study. The differences between results are significant and show that the petals are the richest in phenolic compounds, which explains their use in traditional medicine.
