Abstract
Maïtaké — Grifola frondosa (GF) — stimulates TH1 and TH2 pathways. TH1 pathway favors anti-fectious (listeria, herpes virus type 1 or influenza) or anti-cancer properties, mainly demonstrated by in vitro studies. Human randomized trials fail to convince. Coriolus versicolor — the immunostimulation leading mycelia — overtops GF. On the contrary, converging data regarding metabolic syndrome suggest an actual benefit of GF use against diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol excess or overweight. Nevertheless, appropriate randomized studies are still missing in those indications.
