Abstract

The ankle sprain is one of the most frequent sports injuries. Amongst the many treatments used, ointments containing for example a comfrey extract are an interesting alternative to non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. A comparative clinical study, comparing an ointment made from comfrey extract and a diclofenac gel, showed very convincing results: the results of the comfrey extract ointment (Kytta-Salbe® f) equalled and even surpassed those of the gel, achieving significant pain and inflammation reduction in a week.
