Évaluation gériatrique dans les hémopathies lymphoïdes

Geriatric assessment in lymphoproliferative disorders

Abstract

Managementof haematological malignancies in the elderly needs more attention than in younger patients. While some of them can be proposed standard therapy with specific precautions such as colony-stimulating factors, a significant part of them needs a more thorough evaluation with geriatric instruments. The so-called comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) is necessary to indicate geriatric interventions. Vulnerable and frail patients will benefit from this approach to better equilibrate the risk/benefit ratio, which may be highly unstable. However, this approach is time-consuming, and screening techniques are being developed. Such questionnaires will be available soon.
