Chondrocytes ten years after: a great future behind? Considerations and results analysis

Abstract

Cartilage defects treatment is still challenging. Since the Nineties, autologous chondrocytes implantation (ACI) has changed the therapeutic approach to regenerate injured articular cartilage. Nowadays, more than ten years after, ACI shows good clinical results but not a secure hyaline cartilage regeneration.
