The Ichthyological Society of Japan (ISJ) presented the Young Ichthyologist Award 2010 to Dr. Tetsumi Takahashi (Kyoto University) for his outstanding research activities and papers on systematics, ecology, population genetics, and evolution of Tanganyikan cichlids. The following two papers were selected for the Best Article Award 2010.

Dr. Tetsumi Takahashi gave a commemorative lecture entitled “Thinking outside the box: taxonomy, evolution and ecology of cichlid fish” on 24 September 2010 during the ISJ annual meeting in Tsu, Mie. He and the authors of the Best Article Award 2010 papers (Dr. Masaki Miya of Natural History Museum and Institute, Chiba, and Dr. Masahiro Horinouchi of Research Center for Coastal Lagoon Environments, Shimane University) received the commemorative certificates of merit from the ISJ President, Dr. Akira Goto.
