Abstract

In Poland higher education proceeds generally in two ways: students can either obtain a uniform master level degree or a bachelor level degree, which offers a possible extension with a supplementary master degree. The Faculty of Management and Organization at the Technical University of Lodz (Poland) offers master level courses in two areas of studies: first, management and marketing and second, management and production engineering. In the framework of the first programme, a technological specialization named eco-engineering is offered during the third year of study. As per future plans, an expanded eco-engineering specialization is to be launched as a diploma course for the management and production engineering field of study. The curricula of the above specialization—besides environmental subjects—includes technical courses originating from the sustainable production idea. Additionally, a postgraduate course titled Sustainable development in an industrial enterprise has been conducted since 2002, intended for business people.
