Abstract
An appraisal of erosion and flooding activities has been conducted at a "high risk" fresh-water location at Abari in the lower Niger floodplain of Nigeria. Factors relating to the mechanisms of bank failures and attendant flooding are examined and suggestions made for remediation.

Une évaluation des phénomènes d'érosion et d'inondation a été réalisée dans un secteur à "haut risque", à Abari, dans la basse plaine alluviale du Niger, au Nigéria. Les facteurs relatifs aux processus de rupture de berges et d'inondation associés sont étudiés et des suggestions de mesures correctives sont faites.
