Am 11. Oktober wurde Günter Blobel (Abb. 1) in Stockholm der diesjährige Nobelpreis für Medizin verliehen. Nachdem Blobel die Entdeckung des Prinzips der intrazellulären Proteinnavigation schon Anfang der 70er Jahre gelungen war, ehrte ihn die Nobelversammlung in diesem Jahr für die Erforschung der molekularbiologischen Grundlagen dieser „intrinsic signals”.
