Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
The particular needs of newborns and premature infants during interfacility transport demand adequate organizational structures, logistics, equipment and a specially trained transport team. In premature infants, transportation is associated with a rise in mortality and morbidity. During transport, the same standards for monitoring and treatment as in the clinical setting must be adhered to in order to minimize the risk of hypoxia, hypoperfusion, hypothermia and hypoglycaemia. To address the risks and requirements for neonatal transport, representatives of the responsible German, Austrian and Swiss organisations have published the current consensus guideline.
Aim
This article presents the contents of the guideline with respect to practical challenges.
