Zusammenfassung

Die notfallmedizinische Versorgung von gehörlosen Patienten stellt besondere Anforderungen an die Kommunikationskompetenz von Medizinern und Pflegefachkräften. Die Deutsche Gebärdensprache (DGS) ist als rechtlich anerkannte, visuell-gestische Sprache die bevorzugte Kommunikationsform von Gehörlosen. Um eine sichere und effektive Behandlung dieser Patientengruppe in Notfallsituationen oder in der Notaufnahme zu gewährleisten, müssen Erstversorger in der Lage sein, Gehörlosigkeit zu erfragen, wesentliche Informationen zu erhalten und bei Bedarf einen Gebärdensprachdolmetscher zu organisieren. Im Sinne einer inklusiven medizinischen Versorgung ist eine Sensibilisierung von medizinischem Fachpersonal für die Kommunikationswelt der soziokulturellen Minderheit der Gehörlosen eine grundlegende Voraussetzung. Für eine adäquate Notfallversorgung gehörloser Patienten sind entsprechende sprachkulturelle Kompetenzen essenziell.

Abstract

Health care professionals need to have special communication skills when working with deaf patients in an emergency setting. German Sign Language (Deutsche Gebärdensprache, DGS) is legally recognized as an official language and is the preferred means of communication for deaf patients in Germany. In order to provide fast and effective care in emergency situations, health care professionals must quickly assess deafness and consider adequate use of sign language interpreters. Physicians and nurses need to be made aware of the specific communication form of the sociocultural minority of deaf patients in order to provide inclusive health care. With regards to adequate emergency aid, appropriate sociolinguistic competences are essential.
