Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Durch die ansteigende Lebenserwartung werden immer mehr Menschen in höherem Lebensalter präklinisch im Rahmen von Notfalleinsätzen versorgt.

Methode

Recherche und Auswertung aktueller Literatur.

Ergebnisse

Es sind die speziellen Gegebenheiten dieser Patientengruppe zu beachten und die geltenden notärztlichen Behandlungsalgorithmen der alterstypisch veränderten Physiologie und Multimorbidität anzupassen. Polypharmazie spielt als auslösende Ursache für akut eintretende Notfallsituationen eine herausragende Rolle. Notfallmedizinische Herausforderungen sind die sich oft atypisch präsentierenden Krankheitsbilder. Anhand häufiger Krankheitsbilder soll die Komplexität dieser speziellen Einsatzsituationen aufgezeigt werden. Auch wird den steigenden Einsätzen bei Patienten in palliativer Situation Rechnung getragen.

Schlussfolgerung

Es ist zu fordern, dass geriatrische und palliativmedizinische Grundkenntnisse in die notärztliche Ausbildung integriert werden.

Abstract

Background

Due to increasing life expectancy more and more elderly people are preclinically treated in the form of emergency medical care.

Method

Research and analysis of the current literature.

Results

The specific conditions of this patient group must be considered in addition to adjusting the prevailing emergency treatment algorithms to age-appropriate physiology and multimorbidity. Polypharmacy plays a prominent role as the triggering cause for acutely occurring emergency situations. The emergency medical challenge is to overcome the often atypically appearing clinical picture. The complexity of this specific scope of application can be derived by means of frequently occurring clinical pictures.

Conclusion

It is recommended that basic knowledge in geriatrics and palliative medicine should be integrated in the education of an emergency medical doctor.
