Abstract
Ingestion of sharp foreign bodies is a rare but potentially fatal emergency situation. We report the case of a 61-year-old female patient with colic-like abdominal pains. Even though initial plain X-rays did not show any abnormal findings an abdominal computed tomography scan revealed a perforating foreign body in the prepyloric antrum. The foreign body was removed without any further complications during upper endoscopy. The emergency situation, the imaging studies and the removal of the foreign body are discussed.
