Zusammenfassung

Die schwere akute Hyponatriämie ist eine lebensbedrohliche Erkrankung bei Marathonläufern. Wir berichten über den Fall einer 41-jährigen Läuferin mit Hirnödem durch Hyponatriämie nach einem Marathonlauf. Die Patientin erholte sich nach Natriumsubstitution vollständig.

Abstract

Severe acute hyponatremia is a life-threatening illness among marathon runners. We report the case of a 41-year-old female athlete with cerebral edema due to exercise-associated hyponatremia (EAH) after a marathon run. After sodium substitution the patient recovered completely.
