Abstract

In case of an accident, it can happen that even kids restrained in a child safety seat can sustain serious intrathoracic or intra-abdominal injuries caused by the safety belt system. We present the case of a toddler who had not been correctly strapped in a safety belt who suffered an acceleration trauma (rupture of the duodenum) caused by the safety belt which only became evident after a period without any hints of injuries.
