Abstract

The anterior, superior shoulder quadrant contains essential functionally important anatomical structures of the shoulder joint. The acromioclavicular roof, including the coracoid process, has binding elements to the rotator tendons and the capsular structures as well as to the course of the biceps tendons, the pulley complex and the anterior rotator interval. This anatomical complexity must be considered in questionable isolated injuries in the region of the anterior superior shoulder quadrant because actual isolated injuries are unlikely to be the result of an accident. Therefore, for an expert opinion a complex diagnostic process is necessary not only for the suspected injured region but also for the accompanying structures.
