Zusammenfassung

„Off-label-use“ bezeichnet ein Abweichen vom vorgegebenen Anwendungsgebiet und charakterisiert eine innovative Verwendung von winkelstabilen, anatomisch geformten Platten. Der vorliegende Beitrag erläutert neben dem zugrunde liegenden Konzept die Grundzüge der Anwendung für die primäre Knochenbruchbehandlung und Revisionschirurgie. Verdeutlicht durch eine Auswahl von klinischen Beispielen mit Röntgenbildmaterial werden geeignete Indikationen aufgezeigt.

Abstract

The use of specially adapted fixed-angle plates in ways not mentioned in the approved labelling, or “off-label-use”, is a new concept in the treatment of complex metaphyseal fractures. This report explains the basic concept and also the main features of the use of such plates for primary treatment of bone fractures and for revision surgery. Suitable indications are highlighted and illustrated with a selection of clinical cases with X-ray pictures for greater clarity.
