Abstract
Early postoperative infection following trauma surgery and endoprosthetic joint replacement is still one of the most serious complications encountered in traumatology. Despite various innovations in the fields of pharmacology and medical technology, the problem of infection remains completely topical in orthopaedic surgery. Surgical revisions and strategies still have the main impact in the management of septic complications. Nevertheless, our understanding of the pathophysiology of bone and joint infections has increased.
