Abstract
Endurance burning flame arresters are used to protect the inner part of an apparatus or fuel tank against flame transmission from the outside. Based on the endurance burning test according to EN 12874, the temporal and local temperature distributions are measured using different flame arrester elements. Based on these results, porous structures made of sintered fibres seem to be a very attractive material for the design of endurance burning flame arrester elements.
