Abstract
Zusammenfassung Das Verständnis des Strömungsverhaltens während Befüllvorgängen von Automobilen gewinnt aufgrund von Umweltschutzbestimmungen und aktuellen Trends in der Konstruktion von automobilen Kraftstoffsystemen immer mehr an Bedeutung. Eine ausführliche Studie über die Simulation dieser Strömungen in automobilen Befüllrohren mit der Volume-of-Fluid-Methode wird vorgestellt. Mit diesem numerischen Zugang sind virtuelle Optimierungen der Befüllrohrgeometrie sowie der Einlass- und Auslassformen möglich. Die Ergebnisse können auch für die Diskussion von ähnlichen Befüllströmungen außerhalb der Kraftfahrzeugtechnik von Interesse sein.
The flow behaviour during automotive refuelling is gaining greater importance due to recent pollution laws and contemporary trends in automotive fuel system design. A comprehensive study is reported on the simulation of flows within automotive filler pipes by means of a volume-of-fluid method. Virtual optimisations of the filler pipe geometry and the inlet and outlet shape are presented with the aid of the numerical approach. The results may be useful for the discussion of similar refuelling flows in non-automotive applications, too.
