The authors regret errors in the experimental part (description of the synthesis of 1-methyl-1′-trimethoxypropylsilane[4,4′]bipyridinium diiodide, compound 2):

• 1. After separation of the fine precipitate by centrifugation, the raw product is washed twice. The correct volume of toluene for each washing step should be rather 45 ml than 4 ml. Use of the incorrect amount of toluene may result in a contaminated product.

• 2. The interpretation of the ¹³C-NMR signals at 148.13 and 148.46 ppm as ‘CH’ is misleading. The respective carbon atoms are quarternary.
