Drift force on a bottom-mounted slightly porous vertical cylinder fixed in regular waves

Abstract

Explicit expressions are derived for the drift force that will act on a bottom-mounted, slightly porous vertical cylinder fixed in regular waves. The drift-force expressions derived both from the near-field and the far-field are shown. It is indicated, and numerically demonstrated, that the conventional far-field formula does not hold for a porous body, but needs the additional term of a near-field body-surface integration.
