Abstract
The first part of this review “Intraoperative Monitoring in Conventional and Endovascular Aortic Surgery” deals with three established monitoring procedures that are selectively applied in conventional open aortic surgery. These are (1) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), (2) the derivation of motor-associated potentials (MEP), and (3) cerebrospinal fluid drainage (CSFD). Each procedure is discussed individually with regard to its methodology and evidence. Finally, a summarizing evaluation is carried out.
