Abstract
Fusion imaging is a new technology that enables different imaging modalities to be combined. Its implementation in endovascular procedures has been shown to reduce the radiation dose and to improve other performance measures. Each main manufacturer has developed proprietary systems. Despite this, four steps represent the core of the technology: segmentation, planning, registration and visualization. The understanding of each of them allows a correct application of this tool. The constant development of the methods will extend the possible applications and improve the overall safety of many endovascular procedures.
