Zusammenfassung

Durch die medizinische Globalisierung entwickelt sich zurzeit ein mehr als florierender Medizintourismusmarkt. Nach Ablehnung von Kostenübernahmen durch den Leistungsträger zieht es auch deutsche Patienten zur günstigen Operation ins nahe Ausland. Beschrieben wird der Fall einer 55-jährigen Patientin, die sich einer Magenbandoperation in Tschechien unterzog. Anstatt des vereinbarten verstellbaren Magenbandes wurde jedoch eine Gefäßprothese implantiert.

Abstract

A growing number of patients from Germany and other developed countries are travelling abroad with the express purpose of obtaining providential health care, including elective bariatric surgery. This case report covers the history of a 55-year-old German woman (BMI 44 kg/m2) who travelled to the Czech Republic to receive an adjustable gastric banding. To clarify a progressive abdominal affliction we examined the patient and instead of the adjustable gastric band we found a vascular prosthesis penetrating the gastric wall.
