Das undifferenzierte Karzinom mit lymphozytärem Stroma des Nasopharynx, auch Schmincke-Tumor oder lymphoepithelieales Karzinom genannt, macht ca. 30% aller Nasopharynxkarzinome aus. Es ist in Europa mit einer Inzidenz zwischen 0,1 bis 0,3/100.000 Einwohnern sehr selten und kommt häufiger in südasiatischen Ländern vor. Bei der Tumorentstehung spielt das Epstein-Barr-Virus eine Rolle. Die Lokalisation außerhalb des Nasopharynx stellt eine Rarität dar, es liegen lediglich einige Fallberichte vor.
