Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
There is still great interest among cancer patients for the additional use of micronutrients in order to improve quality of life during oncological therapy. This update provides additional data when considering the use of selected micronutrients during anticancer therapy.
Methods
We performed a literature review regarding the use of selected micronutrients in oncology that were published from 2015–2019 in citable journals.
Results
We present data on vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin C, folic acid, L‑carnitine, selenium and zinc. We analyzed each in terms of quality of life and the prognosis for cancer patients.
Conclusion
Physicians should be able to offer informed advice to their patients and in those cases where the evidence warrants it, integrate the use of specific micronutrients into their care strategies.
