Epidemiologie des Magenkarzinoms in Deutschland

Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Epidemiologie des Magenkarzinoms in Deutschland, basierend auf den Ergebnissen der epidemiologischen Krebsregister und der Todesursachenstatistik des statistischen Bundesamts. Das durchschnittliche Erkrankungsalter betrug 72 Jahre. Sowohl die Magenkrebsinzidenz als auch die -mortalität ist in Deutschland im weltweiten Vergleich niedrig und über die letzten 17 Jahre kontinuierlich gesunken. Trotz dieser erfreulichen Entwicklung wird in Deutschland bei über 15.000 Personen im Jahr ein Magenkarzinom diagnostiziert, und es sterben jährlich ca. 9000 Personen an Magenkrebs. Das relative 5‑Jahres-Überleben hängt stark vom Alter und dem Tumorstadium bei Diagnose ab und beträgt zwischen 83 % (<65 Jahre, Stadium I) und 3 % (75+, Stadium IV). Somit ist es wichtig, sowohl Tumoren in einem möglichst frühen Stadium zu diagnostizieren als auch mögliche weitere Risikofaktoren zu identifizieren und präventive Maßnahmen zu implementieren.

Abstract

The article gives an overview of the epidemiology of stomach cancer in Germany based on the results of the epidemiological cancer registries and the death statistics from the Federal Statistical Office. The average age of disease onset was 72 years. Both the incidence and mortality of stomach cancer in Germany are low in a global comparison and have fallen continuously over the past 17 years. Despite this positive development, more than 15,000 people in Germany are annually diagnosed with stomach cancer, which causes around 9000 deaths per year. The relative 5‑year survival strongly depends on age and tumor stage at diagnosis and is between 83% (<65 years, stage I) and 3% (75+ years, stage IV). It is therefore important to diagnose tumors at the earliest possible stage, to identify other possible risk factors and to implement preventive measures.
