BACKGROUND: Patients with incontinence of urin and stool are in danger to acquire moisture related skin damage. International literature describes different instruments for risk assessment and classification of "Incontinence Associated Dermatitis" (IAD). Currently there is no instrument for risk assessment and classification of IAD, which is in use in primary care and long term care facilities in German speaking countries. AIM: Translation of the English version of PAT into German and testing of the content validity of the German version of PAT-D (Deutsch). METHOD: The English version of PAT was translated to the standards of the "International Society of Pharmaoeconomics and Outcome Research" (ISPOR), adjusted to the German speaking nursing culture and tested for content validity. RESULT: PAT-D is according to German nursing experts a comprehensible, well arranged and valid assessment tool in reference to the content validity. CONCLUSION: The findings lead to the assumption, that the items of the PAT-D are able to capture the risk of an IAD. However, that instrument can not be recommended yet for practical use in daily nursing care, because still more quality criteria have to be reviewed.
Zusammenfassung
HINTERGRUND: Harn- und/oder stuhlinkontinente Patienten sind gefährdet, einen feuchtigkeitsbedingten Hautschaden zu erleiden. In der internationalen Literatur werden verschiedene Instrumente zur Risikoerfassung und Klassifizierung einer Inkontinenzassoziierten Dermatitis (IAD) beschrieben. Derzeit wird in deutschsprachigen Akut- und Langzeitpflegeeinrichtungen kein Instrument zur Risikoerfassung und Klassifizierung der IAD verwendet. ZIEL: Ziel der Untersuchung war die Übersetzung des englischsprachigen Instruments PAT in die Zielsprache Deutsch sowie die Überprüfung der Inhaltsvalidität des deutschsprachigen Perinealen Assessment Tools (PAT-D). METHODE: Das englischsprachige Instrument PAT wurde nach den Prinzipien der "International Society for Pharmaoeconomics and Outcome Research" (ISPOR) übersetzt und anschließend einer Inhaltsvaliditätsprüfung unterzogen. ERGEBNIS: PAT-D ist aus Expertensicht ein verständliches, übersichtliches und valides Instrument hinsichtlich der Inhaltsvalidität. SCHLUSSFOLGERUNG: Die Ergebnisse lassen vermuten, dass die Items der PAT-D das Risiko einer IAD erfassen können. Allerdings kann das Instrument derzeit noch nicht für den täglichen Praxiseinsatz in der Pflege empfohlen werden, da noch weitere Gütekriterien untersucht werden müssen.
