Prävalenz der Inkontinenz und Pflegemaßnahmen

Querschnittstudie bei erwachsenen Bewohnern und Patienten in Österreich

Zusammenfassung

PROBLEMSTELLUNG: Inkontinenz stellt ein weitverbreitetes Gesundheitsproblem dar, das sowohl Männer als auch Frauen jeden Alters betreffen kann. Da Inkontinenz mit einem hohen Pflegeaufwand verbunden ist, stellt die Versorgung inkontinenter Patienten und Bewohner eine Herausforderung für die Pflege dar. Informationen über dieses Pflegephänomen in österreichischen Pflegeheimen und Krankenhäusern liegen bisher kaum vor. Das Wissen darüber ist jedoch notwendig, um die Pflegepraxis zu optimieren. ZIEL: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Darstellung der aktuellen Prävalenz von Urin- und Stuhlinkontinenz sowie der durchgeführten Pflegemaßnahmen in österreichischen Pflegeheimen und Krankenhäusern. METHODE: Grundlage für diese Arbeit stellen Daten von 3.838 erwachsenen Patienten und Bewohnern aus 36 österreichischen Pflegeheimen und Krankenhäusern dar, die im Rahmen der Europäischen Pflegequalitätserhebung, einer deskriptiven, multizentrischen Querschnittstudie 2010 erhoben wurden. ERGEBNISSE: In Pflegeheimen konnte bei Urininkontinenz eine Prävalenz von 80,4%, in Krankenhäusern eine von 22,5% festgestellt werden. Stuhlinkontinenz betreffend war die Prävalenz in Pflegeheimen 57,1% und in Krankenhäuser n 8,2%. In der Versorgung von Urininkontinenz kamen vornehmlich absorbierende Hilfsmittel jedoch kaum kontinenzfördernde Maßnahmen zum Einsatz. SCHLUSSFOLGERUNG: Um Veränderungen der Prävalenz sowie Verbesserungen der pflegerischen Versorgung beobachten zu können, wird die erneute Durchführung einer Pflegequalitätserhebung empfohlen.
