Abstract

Elderly people and in particular multimorbid patients often have a limited or insufficient immune defence system. Therefore, oral hygiene and correct implementation are extremely important. However, in senior and nursing homes this represents a severe problem. Using a case study it will be demonstrated which options and limits are available to the dentist in cooperation with the nursing personnel to ameliorate pain and to establish an adequate oral hygiene.
