Die Adaptationsprothese

Zusammenfassung

Eine der häufigsten Strategien zur Heranführung an die Zahnlosigkeit ist die Immediatprothese. Grundvoraussetzung für die Akzeptanz dieser neuen Struktur ist ein hohes Maß an Adaptationsfähigkeit vonseiten des Patienten. Diese ist allerdings bei älteren Menschen aufgrund physischer und psychischer Defizite häufig nicht gegeben. Eine Alternative zu diesem Vorgehen stellt die Versorgung mit einer Adaptations- oder Aufbauprothese dar. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die Vorteile dieser Art Prothese aufgezeigt. Weiterhin wird das praktische Vorgehen von der Planung bis zur schrittweisen technischen Umsetzung erläutert.

Abstract

One of the most common strategies for approaching edentulousness is an immediate prosthesis. The basic prerequisite for acceptance of this new structure is a high degree of adaptability of the patient. However, due to physical and mental deficits this is often not the case with elderly people. An alternative approach is the fitting of an adaption or removable partial denture. This article describes the advantages of this form of denture. Furthermore, the practical approach from the planning to the step-wise technical implementation will be explained.
