Summary.

This paper deals with the nonlinear oscillations of a conservative single-degree-of-freedom system with a general nonlinear restoring force. An iteration procedure is presented to solve the nonlinear oscillation equation. With the procedure, the analytical approximate period and the corresponding periodic solution, valid for small as well as large amplitudes of oscillation, can be established.
