Abstract
Nanotechnologies belong to the latest technologies, which have a wide range of applications in medicine, electrotechnology or in screening methods. However, there is still a lack of information about their effects on the environment, microorganisms or their possible applications in wastewater treatments for micropollutants removal. This study focuses on the interaction of selected types of nanomaterials with different gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, filamentous fungi, and yeasts. Tested nanomaterials were on carbon base–nanodiamonds, carbon nanotubes, and graphene oxide. The results show antimicrobial effect of carbon nanotubes or graphene oxide on gram-positive bacteria. The inhibitory effect depended on the mode of interaction between cells and tested nanomaterial. A mutagenic activity of tested nanomaterials was found for the boron doped diamond powder with nominal size of the particles 500 nm in two highest concentrations.
