New [e]-Fused Caffeines: A Simple Synthesis of 3-Substituted [1,2,4]Triazolo[4,3-e]purines

Summary.

 A convenient synthesis of 3-substituted [1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-e]caffeines by oxidative cyclization of 8-arylmethylenehydrazinocaffeines with bromine in acetic acid in presence of sodium acetate is described.
