Abstract
This work features a critical review of the Acalypha species of the West Tropical Africa, including Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe. As a result, 15 native species, and four that appear to be naturalized, are accepted, and 17 names are considered as synonyms. Comprehensive nomenclatural information is supplied, and nine lectotypes and one neotype are designated. An identification key is also provided, as well as two original illustrations.
