Reason: Considerable concern was raised about the originality of the research. There is substantial evidence that large fractions of text and experimental data are verbatim identical to work that had been published earlier by K. K. Verma, A. K. Gupta (Analytical Chemistry 1982, 54, 249–253)

Dr. Srivastava was given the opportunity to respond to these allegations. Following a thorough investigation, and following a discussion of the allegations and the response, the Editors of MCA have come to the conclusion (on 28 August 2010) that there is striking evidence for plagiarism committed by Dr. Srivastava.

Based on the results of this investigation, the Editor-in-Chief is retracting this article, consistent with Springer’s Policy on article withdrawal and Springer’s ethical guidelines.
