Abstract

We investigate the \(\gamma d \rightarrow d \pi ^+ \pi ^-\) reaction for a study of a possible \(N\varDelta \) dibaryon state using a deuterium target with a magnetic spectrometer, Neutral Kaon Spectrometer 2 (NKS2), at Research Center for Electron Photon Science (ELPH), Tohoku University. The incident photon energy ranged from 0.78 to 1.08 GeV. Resonance-like structures were found at a mass of \({\sim }2.15~\mathrm {GeV}/c^2\) with a width of \({\sim }0.1~\mathrm {GeV}/c^2\) in the \(d\pi ^+\) and \(d\pi ^-\) invariant mass spectra.
