Laurence’s stitch: continuous horizontal mattress suture for skin closure

Abstract

Various techniques have been described for closure of surgical wounds. These include, subcuticular technique, interrupted vertical mattress, clips, etc. We report a technique of continuous horizontal mattress for skin closure using absorbable suture material. This technique is quick and easy to master, avoid gaping of wound, good cosmesis and is suitable for all wound sizes.

Résumé

De nombreuses techniques ont été décrites pour la fermeture des plaies chirurgicales. Celles-ci comprennent les techniques intradermiques, les surjets interrompus, les agrafes...Nous décrivons une technique de surjet continu pour la fermeture cutanée utilisant du matériel résorbable. Cette technique est rapide et facile à maîtriser, évite les brèches de la plaie, donne une bonne cosmétique et peut être utilisée pour toutes les localisations.
