Abstract
Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare tumor which can extend into the right heart via the inferior vena cava. We describe a case of a 26-year-old woman who had Cushing’s syndrome, shortness of breath, and peripheral edema. A 26-year-old female was hospitalized with an 8-month history of Cushing’s syndrome and clinical features including weight gain, central obesity, bipedal edema, moon faces, hirsutism, oligomenorrhea, and recent onset of hypertension. A two-dimensional echocardiogram on hospital admission showed a large multinodular mass in the right atrium which extended into the inferior vena cava. Further studies showed that this mass was adrenocortical carcinoma with liver and lung metastasis. Although ACC was very rare, it should be included in the differential diagnosis of right atrium mass.
