A case of giant esophageal leiomyoma

Abstract

Leiomyoma is the most common benign tumor of the esophagus, which accounts for 4% of all esophageal tumors. Leiomyoma should be removed when diagnosed, even if it is asymptomatic, because malignancy cannot be excluded and symptoms are likely to develop if treatment is delayed. We report a giant spiral leiomyoma that presented with dysphasia and weight loss and enucleated successfully.
