The Kinetics of C–Reactive Protein Concentration in Patients Operated for Atheromatous Arterial Obliteration of the Lower Limbs

The aim of the study was to assess the kinetics of CRP (C–reactive protein) concentration in patients treated operatively due to atheromatous arterial obliteration of the lower limbs. The obtained results indicate decisively that there is no point in determining CRP as far as the diagnosis of the grade of lower limb ischaemia is concerned. The obtained and statistically processed data were the sufficient basis to give the equation of regression curve of the third grade for the postoperative period, which proceeded without complications. The highest CRP concentration occurred on the third day after the operation. Then a slow reduction in the concentration of the examined protein and its gradual return to the baseline values were observed. The postoperative complications may be indicated by CRP concentration whose values were different from those presented below. Therefore determination of CRP concentration is a very useful examination after grafting the aortal-bifurcated prosthesis.
